My Take: Words like Entrepreneurship can seem big, complicated and scary. Teens, busy with Social Media and school-related work may feel that they are too young to bring social change. And what’s in it for me anyway? Well, I disagree, not only are teens uniquely positioned to bring about social change, and engage in Social Entrepreneurship, but there is a lot they can personally gain from it as well.

I believe, Teens are uniquely positioned because:

1. They’re more familiar with and have hands-on experience with technology. Technology is the backbone of what brings social change now. So who better positioned to think of ways to use technology for social change than Teens?
2. They’re *very* adept at social media. Not only does this allow them to wield a large voice, but said voice can actually be used to amplify the voices of the underprivileged!
3. It is about THEIR future. Kids want a better future, so they have a much bigger motivation to make sure the world becomes a better place by the time they are adults.

Teens also get a lot OUT of social entrepreneurship:

1. You build confidence. There is nothing that gives you more confidence than knowing that what you did made a difference.
2. You build skills: Social Entrepreneurship requires working with hard skills, technology and innovation. All skills that will be useful to you later on in whatever career you decide to pursue.
